How to build a successful arcade flash game site 2

This is my second article about how to build a successful arcade site.

Now you have setup your new arcade site and you like to get some visitors to play games.
There are 2 ways, one you wait until search engines send you the first players or second you buy some traffic to your site.

Some webmasters have a big amount of money and buy 10K visitors to the new site daily. I like to show you how you can build up your site also with just $10 or maybe less if you are not in hurry.

Now you will think, (and how do I make money back?).

Ok you can but some adsense adds on your site and make a couple of $ back from the small amount of money you invest to get your traffic up.
I like to show you how to get traffic to your site first and how to get more traffic out of the traffic you buy.

First you should still setup something important if your template doesn’t have it integrated, a social bookmarking service to give your players the easy chance to bookmark your site or to submit your sites to Facebook or Twitter for example, this will get you also some links back to your site, and this is good for SEO. I recommend http://addthis.com, it’s a free service, easy to setup and they provide a very provisional statistic to you.

Now let’s trade the traffic you buy. Why? Every new visitor is maybe also a returning visitor to your site, and you need returning visitors to build up your sites traffic, and if he leaves thru a trade banner on your site, a new one will come back.

There are 2 ways, one is you sign up on an arcade banner exchange or you trade your traffic with other trading arcade sites. You can also do both, mix it and see how it works out.

A banner exchange is, you add a code to your site to display the banners from other exchange owners, and they display in exchange your banner on their site, so if one of your visitors click on this banner to leave your site you get a new one back.
You have to read the banner exchange rules, some have a exchange rate from 10:9 clicks and some have impression exchange. Mostly you get also bonus clicks or impressions for the traffic you send to other members. I don’t go more into it as it will be too long, just search around and read the rules from the exchanges.

How a arcade trade site works I explain already simple on my other article. As your site is not a trade site, you need to find trade partners who send traffic thru banners, or you submit links to your games manual on the trade signup page. So after you find a big trade site, you can link a banner on your site to send traffic to them and they will send you traffic back. Take care not to send the traffic only to one trade site, as they count unique traffic, so for you it’s better to use an banner rotator and add different trade partners to different banners.

On my new site http://www.freegamesplanet.com I use only banner exchanges, as you just need to place the code on your site and the rest the exchange take care for you.

Now you have setup all you need to get some traffic. There are again too many ways and I tell you just some of them. Take care to buy only arcade traffic, any other will have a high bounce rate and is a useless traffic for your arcade site. Don’t go for PPC sites or traffic exchanges (it’s not the same as banner exchanges) all this is a waste of your money and all useless.

Adsense is a big possibility to buy high amounts of traffic, but with the wrong campaign setup you will end up with a high bounce rate again. There are many add companies out there, so just search around what other arcade webmasters use and you will find the best for you.

I recommend buying traffic from arcade banner exchanges, not because I own one by myself one, no, the traffic you buy from this exchanges is 100% arcade traffic and the bounce rate will be much lower as the new visitor comes from another arcade site and he like to play more games.

Now you have some traffic to your site and everyday some of them will come back if you take care of your new arcade site. After you get 200 – 300 visitors per day without to buy any traffic, then is the time to think about how to make some money out of it.

Remember, to build up traffic needs time, nothing will go quick, so don’t give up and work every day a little on your site with submitting new games and make some link exchange with other websites.

Exchange only site wide links, this will help to get you more in links to your site and also some traffic.
Exchange only with arcade sites, the same content is very important.
Don’t exchange with new sites that look messy, this sites mostly go offline anyway as the owners don’t care about.
Don’t buy 10K links from link services, this ones are useless links and you can get a penalty from Google for this.
Don’t exchange too many links on one day, I recommend 1 time per week.

I could go on and on with tips for you, there are many ways and also much more you can do for your site, but I will stop here now and hope this tips will help you, just always remember the most important thing, update your site from time to time with new games and your visitors will be happy.
