Free arcade traffic shortcut using trends to pick new games

here is a fast Free arcade traffic shortcut

    OK Guys

I know during these dog days of summer many arcade webmasters are emptying buckets of cold beverages down the drain because what they are really thirsty for is another long post from yours truly LOL. So with that in mind I thought I would write something today about free traffic generation. This is going to be a neat little trick that you can use for a quick little pop of traffic to your arcade. Now the good news is that this trick is completely free but the bad news is that it is going to cost you a little time to get it all setup and do a little research. So lets get this party started guys!

    What you will need:
An arcade script with an RSS FEED built in
    ( Preferred )
There are sites that will convert your page to a feed but
I have never done this with them.

    1. Visit Google trends: look over the main page but also Click on the link that says "More hot searches " and in my example I am of course looking at
    Hot USA searches and topics.
NOTE: Another site to get hot topics from is twitter itself by visiting
    http://twopular.com/
This site merges all the data so you can get a birdseye view of what guys are tweeting about on twitter ( anyone get that Birds eye view bu dum bump LOL ).

2.OK now you will not find this every day but on occasions you can look for
people in the news, weird stories or something that is related to a Flash game you know exist ( or double check on some archives like FGD,Gamesfeed,Mochi and AWF uploads ) but you DONT have this game on your site already.

    3. Now if you got an idea then we are half way there. Next you add the game to your site and try to use Keywords similar to the search topic or string you found on Google or the birds on twitter.

    4. OK now you update your RSS feed if that is not done for you automatically
    5. Now visit a site like
    http://www.pingler.com
    and ping your feed
    6. Then just sit back because you have picked a good game to add and will get some Extra traffic and back links in 2 ways.
    a) There are a lot of scrapers looking for hot topics and they will discover your site and feed giving you a few backlinks for free.
    b) There will already be a built in interests for the game you added and YOU KNOW 100% that there is because of the research you done. This will lead to more plays and page views + the possibility of a player sharing that game ( because it was based on a hot topic right then ) with a friend.
NOTE: This game might not be really new but because you are tying it into your site for the first time it is new to your visitors and if you drop a few KW here and there it will be related to a hot current fresh topic. Right now the trend seems to be leaning towards what my brother calls " Hot n Now " stuff more than ever in the search engines.

That is just a fast and easy traffic shortcut you can use for your arcade. I have done this a lot over the years and most recently with a Green lantern game a few days ago. When there are less results for a
topic and you catch it fast ( test results by putting the phrase in Quotes on google search ) then you can sometimes get a first page listing in Google for this new game you added ( GREAT traffic pop then ). I had that happen to me with a Chris Brown and Rihana dressup game back in the day. I hope this little traffic shortcut helps someone and gets you to thinking of more little tricks to build free traffic fast.

Great advice! My site features RSS but I have not yet to use it. Nice.

I also like your twitter idea. I have done this before, and its a pretty funny story and its relevant so Ill post it here. So Im sure you all know how popular Justin Bieber is. Well, he has a couple flash games. My girlfriend mentioned that since he is always a "trending topic" I should tweet about the game by using the #JustinBieber command (I think it is, Im no twitter expert so Im not 100% sure). Well anyways, about 4 or 5 tweets then tweeted to about half a dozen people and within a 10 minute period of time twitter brought me 1k hits. It was just ridiculous. I was soon then banned from Twitter for spamming (Which I did none of!!!!!!) lol

Another great place to get lots of free traffic is Facebook. We'll have to talk about that later. Excellent post gubugnet!

I am not sure why you got banned because if you used a Justin Beiber game I would think that it would be cool. Anyway that is a another excellent tip using the twitter hash symbols to connect your tweets with popular topics on twitter can bring in a nice pop of traffic. OK I hope I dont get in trouble with the boss for all this but if you are worried about getting in trouble make sure you can spin it into a game ( Send them to that landing page ) and also do the tweet from a disposable account meaning if there is trouble then no big deal. I am really just starting on twitter the other day but this seems a lot like mailing list with a new name and those hash symbols remind me of the early days when list were moved around on the BBS scene ( before the internet ). Memories, anyway thanks guys glad the little tip could be useful because traffic and marketing is so crucial with arcades.

RickyG U tried this shortcut I am surprised to hear this. #webmaster would be a good contextual KW but to really get the party started you have to do something that is trending hard like Jason C was pointing out with Justin Beiber. This might seem irelivant well OK maybe it is but in theory because there is so much interests you would attract eyeballs then do splintering and find out if there are any justin beiber fans that might be interested in putting up a fan site and becoming a webmaster.
    Possible Example:
U got a few justin Beiber games on the landing page but U got banners with an ad about running a fun arcade with justin beiber games like the ones on the page. That is kind of contextual and you can get some conversions out of that market into guys that might be interested in webmastering a fun fan site or arcade.

That is just a theoretical example and all the newage broad then splinter techniques kind of go against the grain of how I am used to doing this but I woke up recently and said " OK I give " I am going to join the club.

You can see guys doing insanely broad marketing now
Examples on Google ads include the swapink ad + that prepaid ad
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with a game site but yet they are all over broad affordable cpc niches due to a low buy in + in general many guys are consumers of ink for printing. I guess many guys could need a debit card as well so their gamble must be that splintering in these low buy in niches will pay off for them. I would have NEVER thought to do that before but now it is all the rage along with retargeting and cpv. However that is all somewhat off topic but the point is to take a chance and pick a broad topic that is getting it's 5 minutes of fame and see if you can get in where you fit in lol.

LOL I love the way you got a reply with a guy doing KW spam for home loans. I even saw swapink on your article page. I know things are changing and now it seems the current trend is away from contextual ads. Now it is getting more wild west and guys throw spam at the wall and see what sticks. Twelve years ago this would have been unheard of ( and would never work ) but now I do see guys doing it and since they are doing it consistently I guess it is either working to some degree or they got deep pockets and lots of fake accounts LOL. I think if you can find a medium then maybe it will still be cool because long term good content guys are interested in ( No matter how they found you ) will always result in better conversions for whatever IMHO. I agree 120% with the article and are U always so funny when you are angry?
