30K unreal UV hits per day!?

Getting crazy…

Since 4 days I get around 30K UV per day hits on the home page on sniperflashgames.com. All I see in my stats is the referring site is "direct request" and GA shows me the top referrer hostname is my own site sniperflashgames.com.

The traffic is 0% converting, so it’s not a real traffic!

Anybody know what is going on?

wow, that's weird.... do you have a default stats counter on your site?

In GA is there a specific country where they come from?

I had this one time already 1 - 2 month ago
The traffic comes all over the planet, also the web providers are not the same.
GA, bannerflux and whos.amung.us stats show all the same traffic amount.

Since you'r running your own server perhaps you can download TCPview from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb897437.aspx and give it a try.

I've never used it, so I don't know if it's helpful or not.

Is the traffic coming all day long, or only specific hours? And what about your serverload?

The traffic is all day the same. My serverload is ok, no problem for the one I have
Normaly I would not care about this traffic as my server is ok with it, but I remove VCM as I'm afraid to get problems for sending fake traffic.
I send the link you post to my server admin as I don't touch the server

really strange. What is the average time on the site (and pageviews)?

About 1 min on site and 0 page views, the traffic goes just to the home page, but I belief it's hidden some how for the visitors, I mean they don't know the site loads in the background.

Maybe its also a robot, but the IP's and countries are not the same!?

If the visitors would be real, some would click a ad or game...

Sounds like someone is trying to DOS (Denial of service) attack you and they dont know you have a server that can handle the traffic. This has been going on for 4 days now? Dang. I dunno though, this is my best guess for now.....

I had this happen on my school arcade website a while back, it's maybe a rolling IP address through proxy is what i thought at first.
I couldn't figure it out either and was a bit freaky but mostly annoying throwing off stats, maybe something to do about a regular visitor having a bot/hack on their computer or using proxy software. It too only happened mostly to the homepage, labeled as direct traffic. Didn't hurt, if it was a hack attempt, it failed, didn't DDOS either. Bounce rate went up for a while though.

If it bouncing traffic, try your best to get rid of it or track it!

Still the same, 300K hits in the last 9 days and no stats say anything where it comes from, all different IPs, I-net providers and and and
