    Is traffic trading worth it?

    Hey All,

Ive been thinking if traffic trading is really worth it?

I noticed recently I was missing from a traders list, so I contacted them.

They 1st said they had not removed the trade.
(not showing on stats page or edit dropdownlist)

After replying with the above I was told that they had deactivated the trade (so to me, this is being removed as its not in the front end of site anymore)

They said they had deactivated due to stats not showing in GA and low conversion rate.

They have asked me to "fix" this and they would continue the trade.

But how can you fix it? I do no black hat tricks or anything, I send from what traffic I get on site from reputable sellers (1upmedia, bannerflux) + traders.

Do you check daily if your trade is still active with a specific site and how your stats are doing, or do you only look at your own stats/GA ?

I will not name names as I dont like throwing mud as it sticks and thats not what I want to do.

What can I do to rectify bad conversion ? I believe some scripts only count the conversion of a trader on the 1st click and then delete the referring cookie (ATS I think does this from what I have read in the code)

Im constantly recoding things my end to improve trades, add extra credits so I can keep trades active, submit plugs so we have more in common.

But with hurdles like this it just makes it harder to keep track of things,

Im thinking of just setting up a tonne of sites, trade between them and a few select partners and leave it at that.

I know sites have to keep track of sites and there conversion, but simply deactivating without any notification is just annoying lol.

Maybe I dont fully understand traffic trading or go about it the wrong way ?

    //end rant.
    Thanks

Your not alone with the gripe. I see it all the time at other forums.

The biggest problem is you care and do what is needed to run a good trade. Others are very 1 sided. You will start to learn who to play with and who to stay away from.

Now more than ever traffic trading is about networking. Just like RickyG said find some guys that you can work with and build up some volume with them ( 100+ min ). When you get to the point that your site is sending out 1000+ clicks a day then your traffic will look better but guys who will comment on 5 - 20 clicks might be falling into the paralysis of analysis unfortunately. I am sure they dont mean anythign negative and I am not trying to knock guys who do this but at some point you have to get some volume trades on your site.

    1. All this GEO insanity is getting out of hand and that is fine to sell mods but honestly geo alone want raise your revenue ( BEEN THERE DONE THAT ). 70% of the traffic on Facebook is not tier 1 are they profitable yes so you have to find out why and fit that into your model. OK you say but that is facebook 80% of the traffic on Mindjolt is not Tier 1 are they profitable? Again find out why no mod alone or script either will help.

YES my script helps me and when I can think of a way to improve it then I do get it added but even I am PAINFULLY HONEST and can say successful businesses sites or whatever are the result of the people behind them ( oldschool I know but it will never change ).

    2. Conversion junkies: Tracking conversion is an imperfect art and you want to get better trades network and just look look at who is sending you traffic that is bouncing in GA below the site average ( talk with them and try to improve it ) and for the guys who are sending traffic above the site average ( talk with them and try to get bigger volume ). Do it consistently and over time your traffic will get better because of the synergy of your actions.

    3. Leaking traffic to your other sites: HMMM not a bad idea if done well. Do you see any examples of that and if so how long have these guys been doing it? When a guy can stick around and do something for a while either they have deep pockets, mental issues or that something is profitable for them ( most of the times it is the latter LOL).
    4. Also make sure no bots are clicking your outgoing links by adding in no follow tags.

Traffic trading is hard but definitely worth it. The problem is not everyone is painfully honest about what all you will have to do to make it work profitably at this point in time.

    end of my rant LOL

indeed, trading can be hard, it takes time to set it up. It works if you have good partners which you don't have to check everyday. I like trading, but I need some more time to optimize it :P

Thanks for the feedback guys, Im not worried about gettting all tier 1 etc, just a steady flow of traffic where traders wont just drop you at a tip of a hat.
Things seem to have settled, im emailing myself daily stats now, so I can see who is sending me traffic and when they have stopped so I can make amendments.

I use FB not for traffic atm, but for a simple member/scoring system, quick adaption of my FB app code.

Im still monitoring things and trying to talk to more traders as I go, its a lot of work, but just hope it pays off.
    Thanks

Simply means that commercial traffic exchange surfers. They send daily visitors to your web site to another web site, and visitors will be sent back to you automatically.

    That's how it works:
    1. Configuration script merchant traffic. (Scripts can be easily found on the Internet itself)
    2. Find sites for the transit trade with you.
    3. New sites just link to the way they want. Upon receiving the traffic, traffic is passed back. Trade Traffic Script will handle everything the system for you.

I have heard of and in the past used traffic exchanges. But must confess I have never heard of traffic trading Must look it up. It's not advisable for all types of niche though, it may not be as effective as it can be with adult and gambling sites.
