It would mess up the header on AWF the top right where it has ya name and PM....

instead of being all in a row horiz....it place one under the other.

I also noticed it didnt like flash to much either. It had probs with some sites like http://www.mibbi.com/banner/info.php it would show the graph stats all busted up.
I havent noticed a flash issue yet, but I do see the AWF issue your talking about.

I am running IE9 only at this point (still getting used to the new layout), and I have noticed these issues as well:

    doesnt like certain css
    doesnt open target="_blank" properly
when hovering over my "twitter" button on my media pages it only shows an "arrow" instead of the "little hand" but its a png image like the others. The only difference is the window the link opens (possibly a js/frame window)
Google Adwords gives errors when trying to navigate after login
doesnt allow certain javascript like (javascript:doSFX())
it doesnt work well with certain sites popups (like trying to edit a Hub)
Alot of sites the text is all jumbled up, and overlaps (and looks like html source code)
I have difficulty editing posts in my phpbb3 forum (the cursor seems to get stuck)

I have managed to resolve all this by hitting F12 and setting Browser Mode/Document Mode to IE8 standards, and phpbb was default to IE7 document mod, so I set this to edge.

For the most part, my site works almost perfectly in the IE9 browser (sticking cursor in phpbb edit mode, twitter button, and chat sound effects)

Can anyone else duplicate/verify the js issues?

There is nothing that the IE team needs to "sort out", you said it yourself that "the website owners just aren't ready". IE is not to be at fault for that, especially if it works just fine with websites that ARE made to be viewed by IE9, or just generally new!
