Popups are annoying, because they interfere with the websites interface.
They mostly produce bad user/website experience.
Popunders aren't annoying. If setup right you won't even notice them on faster systems.
Popunders often produce a good amount of revenue. It don't matter if you use them on trade or non-trade arcades.
I think it's a common misunderstanding that webmasters think popunders are annoying to their visitors.

Pop-ups are irritating for me. I had installed pop-ups on my site, but they tend to be useless even after 6 months, so i removed them. And when i remove them, few of my users thanked me for removing them LOL
