    Speed of arcade sites?

I have been on some really slow arcade sites lately. Wondering what others are doing along with getting better hosting to increase speed of their arcade sites?

    My Mood
    Confused
hosting is not always the fix or issue.......

You need to study your site:
    • Is your SQL optimized?
    • Set up cache
    • What are the sizes of your thumbs? Dont forget 25 thumbs that are bulky can be the fault! Have you ever seen the size of some of these?!? O MY!!
    • Any ads/banners running from 3rd party be the cause? If they are having issues....so wont your site. Running Iframe could help
    • Last time server was rebooted? Booting will clear out mem and your server will thank you
    • Running the latest php/sql?
    • I can go on.

    In addition to RickyG...

it's a good idea to follow the recommendations of Googles Page Speed:

I agree Ricky,It's not always down to the server you use but as with any sites/hosting you get what you pay for. There's some good shared hosting out there in www land.Let no one tell you different. You might end up on good box with limited users. Then again you might end up on a flooded box and have nothing but problems..If your running an arcade script then the main thing it requires is memory (ram) If that rams not available when someone hits your site then your site will be slow.

Saying that if your think upgrading to a vps will solve your problems and have a badly written script, then it won't solve your problems. As the issues relate to php.and not your server.

Most of the time when you hit these sites they are loading so much 3rd party crap, the ram cant cope with it.

But most of them are not bothered about speed, they are trying to make a living out of the 3rd party crap.
